Online is a great place to start looking where you can find large selections of discount and wholesale suppliers. Good prices seem to start around $0.50 per fly although they are normally priced in dozens. You may also be required to purchase a minimum quantity, say 5 dozen, to benefit from their best prices.
Some of the cheapest flies for fly fishing we have seen only cost around $0.20 but they are very basic. If you want anything more fancy simulating hatching patterns or minnows you will be looking to pay closer to a $1 per fly.

Make sure you buy a selection though for each type of water you are planning to fish and for each type of fish you are expecting to find.
