How Do You Get A Double Chin

You are probably thinking that the way to get a double chin is to do nothing. Double chins just arrive at middle age and there is nothing you can do to avoid it. It is probably hereditary or hormonal. Grandma had a double chin. Grandpa had a double chin. Therefore you will have excess folds of skin below the lower jaw, hyperplasia of the mandible. Wrong!

You know that this aging problem is very unattractive. Did you know that cosmetic concerns are one of the 10 great reasons to join a gym? Yes, exercise can firm the muscles under your chin. I do not mean chewing! That is what got you the problem in the first place. Those are fat deposits, extra ones, and they need to go.

If you are an individual who has no “other” fat deposits, you can concentrate simply on a reasonable diet and neck exercises. Most people find that they also have a bit of cellulite on the hips or some belly fat to deal with. In that case, you need to do full body exercise and as you lose the other fat, you will lose the facial deformity too.

There are several areas of interest in improving chin profile. One is good posture. Keeping your head up will help to maintain strength in the neck.

Stretches are good for neck muscle tone. Bend your head in all four directions once in awhile during the day and while lying in bed before rising and before sleeping. Another stretching exercise is to push your chin up with your hands.

Try this one in front of the mirror. It is good for a laugh as well as good for the throat muscles. Open your mouth as wide as you can, stick out your tongue and hold that for 10-15 seconds then relax and repeat the exercise. Build up to doing that as many times as you can comfortably manage. Try any facial stretch that you can imagine. The elongated “O” mouth with raised eyebrows gives a good stretch to muscles that can help get rid of fat deposits.

With the backs of both hands alternately slap under your chin on both sides. Do it slowly. Increase the speed as tolerable.
