Different Style of Digital Camouflage For MilSim

If you have played any warfare or MilSim games, short for Military Simulation, then you know that having a good cover is a must. Wearing camouflage gear is sometimes what makes or breaks you. There was a MilSim game that I was participating in that I wore the perfect camo gear to blend into my terrain and one of my opponents walked right over me! This gave me the advantage of stealth and cover helped me a lot in most of the Airsoft games I play. This post will give you a short explanation of each type of camouflage gear that will help you stay under-cover.

The newly acquired camouflage gear is a “digital” pattern camo. This new digital camouflage is referred to as “disruptive” camouflage because the camouflage is made up of thousands of small squares or pixels of various colors depending which terrain you are at. Surprisingly this digital pattern has an amazing effect on the human eyes, which causes the eye to have a hard time focusing on the target that is wearing the digital camouflage attire. When a solider has a hard time on focusing on an object it makes them miss their target. Digital pattern camouflage gear is known as “digie cammies”.

There are a bunch of different styles of digital camouflage, from woodland to snow, urban and desert. The only difference in these camouflage gears is the colors being used. I have noticed that digital camo works well with a ghillie suit for Airsoft games, especially if you’re a sniper and you need as much cover as you can get.

The original camouflage gear that was first used and is still being used by the US Army and worldwide is the BDU, short for Battle Dress Uniform. These camouflage gears are not made up of digital patterns but are more blotches of assorted colors and once again depend on the terrain you are in. One interesting fact is the BDU has been used since 1981 and is still being used today. I personally have found the Woodland BDU to provide better cover for me than the digital camouflage when playing as an Airsoft sniper on my team.

The SkyPlus Box from Sky (who else!) is amazing. We love it. It is a very sophisticated set top box which does more than you can imagine. We bought ours when we upgraded to receiving the HD channels. At the time we thought the Sky+ bit was just an extra but we now think it was more of an upgrade than the HD.

SkyPlus boxes can seemingly do anything. They certainly enhance your previous viewing experience by a hundred times. First up, a standard SkyPlus digibox will let you record close to 40 hours of programming by pressing one button. That’s right, no more setting your video or DVD recorder with dates and times. And you don’t have to remember to leave the TV on the right channel when you got out or to bed. All you do is find the program you want via the program schedules and click on the record button. If the program you are recording is part of a series, it will ask you if you want to record just the one episode or the whole series. Make that choice and you are done. So that means you will not forget the second part of that series you were watching when it is on next week – fantastic.

So what if you want to tape something because you are watching another channel? This Sky Plus box can cope with that too. It has two feeds into the box from your satellite dish so can multi task. It can also record two channels at the same time so long as you are not watching a third one, although you can watch a recorded program in this situation. It will also let you know if there are any recording clashes so you can delete the one you do not really want.

When you come to watch your recordings, there are even more features. Say you watch half an hour of a movie before you have to go out. When you come to start watching the program again, the box will remember where you got to, so you’ll be up and running quickly.

Next up, you are in the middle of your favourite program and the telephone or the doorbell rings. What are you going to do – ignore it? This is not a worry with Sky Plus. You actually have two choices – you can either pause live TV and start playing again when your interruption has been dealt with, or if you forget to do this, you can rewind up to an hour of live TV. This box really is a God send.
